Paintings completed between 2008 and 2011.
In my painting, I study of the effects of mood andmemory on the perception of color, light and space. My work explores memory:how it functions, shifts and blends. I work in slow layers, editing, blurringand inventing my record of the past. Each time we access a memory it isrecreated in order to be available in the future; my process is a meditation onthat principle. My probing of personal experience combines with my techniqueand process. Layering colors, building drips and defining lines are my physicalmeans of analyzing memory through repetition. The places and events I depictare suspended in the fantasy of my own memory- separated by time, space andperception from reality. I hope for viewers to enter the mood and scene of apainting; to consider my memory and align it with one of their own.
